Sorry to confuse you, typed in the wrong post. P is miles away from Cayo Cocos. Cuba is a very reasonable place to go. It has a lot of character and beaches are lovely. The PP is a massive resort compared to most resorts in Cuba. Not sure whether it is set directly on the beach? You will see detailed reviews on this resort. In general, the hotel services are better than hotels we have stayed in Europe. You will get your money's worth.
You will love the Playa Pesquero. I'll be going there for my 4th visit in September. It is a very popular hotel and I can honestly recommend it to anyone. With regard to car hire , this can be arranged at the hotel. Costs vary according to season. There was a thread on this subject a few days ago which you may care to locate. Just to make things a little clearer for you. There are three hotels on the beach known as Playa Pesquero.
Playa Pesquero is the largest hotel in Cuba with rooms. They list it as 5 star but UK tour operators call it 4 star plus. The hotel is approx 1 hour bus ride from Holguin airport and is 18 kilometres from Guadalavaca. Thats great thanks very much for that. Could u advise on whether to take sterling?
Also what are the mozzies like out there - I get bitten really badly quite a bit. Are there any special tips on what rooms to ask for or services? Definitely take Sterling. There is a Cadeca exchange bureau at the Pesquero so you can change your money there up to around I suggest you change a little on arrival at Holguin airport.
I have never found mosquitos to be too big a problem myself but it depends on the time of year and the rainfall. Wait for the buy two get third free offer. It's always better to be safe than sorry. With regard to rooms I always ask for a second floor room but no room is located close to the sea anyway. I have no idea myself which building to ask for next time. The first time I was in building 11 and I quite liked that.
