Suitable for most people in good health. A reasonable level of fitness is required, as these trips can require sustained endurance levels along steep trails and uneven paths. Canyoning trips may include few abseils rappels , long hikes and occasional climbs. Biking trips include a series of up and downhills but nothing too strenuous. A support vehicle will be always available so weary travelers will be able to hitch a ride. A typical trekking day would be walking 4 to 5 hours a day including a 2 hour ascending a mountain.
These trips are physically demanding and best suited for strong people with high endurance levels. Days can be long, often along difficult trails, in remote regions. Biking trips will have support vehicles nearby, but sometimes without one.
After an early pick up in Amman we'll drive to Kerak, with a detailed safety briefing en route. The trail begins at a village called Mumya, from where we'll hike down to the canyon bed and follow the stream west. A couple of hours' walk brings you to the first series of waterfalls - 7m, 5m, and finally 30m high. We'll abseil down one by one and spend the afternoon playing in the pools, drinking hot tea, and pitching camp in this wild spot. In the evening we'll light a fire on the stones and enjoy dinner under the stars.
The next morning we continue downstream into the narrowing, deepening canyon. The first waterfall comes towards the end of the morning's hike, and about half an hour after that you'll reach the most dramatic point in the journey: Here we'll rest and enjoy lunch, and shower under the falls, before setting off for the final couple of hours walk down to the Dead Sea.
