While I will say the staff was very kind, guesthouse itself was just awful. The place is impossible to find without the help of a staff member, so he came outside and met us. After walking through a dark parking lot lined with prostitute houses, we arrived. The place was super hot, had no elevator, and didn't appear very clean.
But, it was midnight and we had no energy to look around in this sketchy area. The room had not been cleaned properly. There was hair all over the bathroom and the drain for the shower did not work at all, leaving us wading in two inches of standing water while showering. Behind the bookshelf there was dust hair, old wrappers, an old lipstick, and who knows what else. The kind staff guy brought one up for us though after we called him They knew were arriving at pm and had all day to prepare the room but did nothing We slept on top of the covers for fear of what would be underneath.
The next day as we checked out, we wanted to make some breakfast. The common areas were totally filthy There was random laundry and clutter everywhere like it was someone's private home. The dining room table was The dining room table was sticky and gross, and the kitchen smelled as if something was dead and rotting. There was no coffee either made or available to make or juice of any kind. I used a bowl and spoon to prepare oatmeal I had packed just in case and when I went to wash it, the sponge in the sink was covered in mildew and egg remnants.
This is an old love hotel that has been "changed" i. It's not cared for and the price does not reflect the facilities. If you want to charge 60, won a night for a hostel, you need to up your game. I would never step foot in this place again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This hostel is conveniently located in Seogwipo, Jeju. The building is within the Seogwipo Maiel Olleh Market which in itself is already interesting and quite near to several tourist spots such as Cheonjiyeon and Jeobang Waterfalls.
The room is okay and the bed warmer was adequate for cold Spring. The hostel staff are very warm and helpful. I especially like their chicken dinner - you pay roughly 5 dollars for chicken, gimbap, sushi and drinks, plus good company! Some watch-outs: 1 It's not easy to find the place, especially if you don't speak Korean. We walked around the vicinity for almost an hour before we found someone who can point us to the right location. Make sure to print out the map in their FB page.
